Range indicators will include Adult Swallowing, Adult Speech and Adult Voice. Skill classes and workshops support the PBL cases and will provide an opportunity for students to describe, analyse and report on speech mechanisms, and become familiar with appropriate assessment tools (e.g., Frenchay Dysarthria Assessment). The lectures and workshops will cover the epidemiology and diagnostic issues related to swallowing disorders (dysphagia) of neurological origin and as a consequence of head and neck cancer; causes and contributing factors for motor speech disorders (dysarthria, dyspraxia) secondary to neurological impairment (Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, Chorea); subjective and objective assessments of swallowing, e.g., clinical bedside evaluation, videofluoroscopy (VFS), fibreoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES); disorders of voice including physiological, acoustic, perceptual assessments; tracheotomy management and radiological procedures; psychosocial impact of neurological disorders on the quality of life; multidisciplinary management of progressive disorders; informational counselling. ","Order":6},{"ID":"8e5f053b-8835-4692-be49-41f07234cfff","Title":"Assessment","Description":"
\r\n\tCA components: (i) Quiz 15%, (ii) PBL Tutorials 5%, (iii) Oral Exam 20%
\r\n\t
\r\n\tTotal for CA: 40%, Total for Final Examinations: 60%
\r\n\t
\r\n","Order":8}],"ReadingFormatted":[],"ReadingUnformatted":[]}],"Lecturers":["Rickard Liow, Susan Jane","Helen Chandler","Tng Siok Keng","Anna Shiam Kattapuram","Yoon Wai Lam","Kang Poh Sim","Sajlia Binte Jalil"]}]}
