\r\nObjectives
\r\n
\r\nUpon completion of this module, students will be able to:
\r\n

  1. \r\n\t\tdiscuss the theories of ageing and human longevity.
    2. \r\n\t
  2. \r\n\t\tcritically analyze the differences between normal changes associated with ageing from those associated with disease.
    3. \r\n\t
  3. \r\n\t\tapply the principles of geriatric medicine and advanced nursing practice in geriatric nursing.
    4. \r\n\t
  4. \r\n\t\tanalyze the role of APN, multidisciplinary team members and approaches in geriatric care.
    5. \r\n\t
  5. \r\n\t\tperform comprehensive geriatric assessment, functional assessment and simple cognitive screening for older adults.
    6. \r\n\t
  6. \r\n\t\tunderstand the impact of nutrition, dental and oral hygiene on health of older adults.
    7. \r\n\t
  7. \r\n\t\tapply  the principles of geriatric pharmacology and prescribing in older adults
    8. \r\n\t
  8. \r\n\t\tappraise the role of APN and issues in the management of the “Giants of Geriatrics”.

  9. \r\n\t\taware of services for older persons, right siting and safe transfer – community, intermediate and long term care.
