items like <em>gen</em> (跟), <em>ge</em> (各) <em>butong/ bu yiyang</em> (不同／不一样) and <em>lai/qu</em> (来／去) are found, this module aims at presenting the most important and useful linguistic concepts.<br>\r\nThe course is divided into three main parts : (1) the conjunction <em>gen</em> and related issues, (2) plurality in noun phrase marked by <em>butong/buyiyang</em> and by the adverb <em>ge</em> &lsquo;each&rsquo; and (3) time and space expressions, <em>qian</em>（前）, <em>hou</em>（后）, <em>lai</em> （来）and <em>qu</em> （去）.<br>\r\n1. Through the study of the Chinese polysemic morpheme&nbsp;<em>gen</em> (&lsquo;to follow&rsquo;, &lsquo;and&rsquo;, &lsquo;with&rsquo;, classifier), we will try to examine its different uses, both in syntax and semantics. For instance, we&rsquo;ll study how &nbsp;parts of speech can be classified in a language with very little morphology, and how the contrast between distributive and collective denotations can be ascertained.<br>\r\n2. Though Chinese does not use any morphological marking to indicate plurality on the noun phrase, we will explain how predicates and modifiers like <em>butong/bu yiyang</em> and the adverb <em>ge</em> &lsquo;each&rsquo; are able to affect the interpretation of the noun phrases, in terms of atoms or groups.<br>\r\n3. Time and space expressions.
