\r\nii. Each student will lead a discussion at least once during the semester on an issue related to the subject of 'meanings and leanings' (part of CA);

\r\niii. At the end of each weekly seminar, every student will write a one-page summary of the issues discussed in the 3-hour seminar to develop a portfolio for the end-of -semester grading (part of CA);

\r\niv. Seminar leaders may choose to use a variety of medium to facilitate thinking, reflection and discussion in the classroom e.g. art, play, creative drama and role plays, videos (part of class participation grade).

\r\nWeek 1 (16/1/2015). The concept of ‘meaningfulness’ and whether meanings individuals or groups hold about life influence their decisions about how they would live their lives;
\r\nAre there differences in the 'meaning of life' or are there shared meanings among people? (Seminar led by lecturer)
\r\n
\r\nThe following topics are suggestions and subject to discussion within the group. A student may choose to lead in one of the following topics or propose another topic:
\r\n
\r\n1. Gender and age differences on life issues?
\r\n2. Heterogeneous versus same sex relationships?
\r\n3. Why marriage? Marriage roles and responsibilities and in-laws versus out-laws?
\r\n4. Why volunteer? Is there really a 'spirit' of voluntarism?
\r\n5. Risk taking behaviours: life style choices;
\r\n6. Bereavement, grief and recovery. Can there still be 'meaning' in terminal illness? What of euthanasia? ;
\r\n7. Disabilities and chronic illnesses: is there still 'quality of life'?;
\r\n8. Forgiveness and interpersonal relationships;
\r\n9. If the whole world is a stage and roles are assigned, wherefore individuality?
\r\n10. Volunteerism: is there real altruism?
\r\n11. Children, Child-free and childless options.
\r\n12. Privacy: is it that important?
