\n(1) Able to apply the bond model of semiconductors to explain physical processes in semiconductors such as the origin of electrons and holes, doping, carrier motion.
\n(2) Able to describe the I-V characteristics of p-n junctions, bipolar transistors and MOSFETs respectively, and to explain the physical mechanisms underlying their operation.
\n(3) Able to explain the equivalent circuit models of p-n junctions, bipolar transistors and MOSFETs respectively, and to apply these models for circuit analysis.
\n(4) Able to construct CMOS logic circuits from given logic functions and to derive the appropriate logic function from a given CMOS logic circuit.

\r\nDiode characteristics in open, forward, reverse and breakdown conditions, IV characteristic. Large signal model – piecewise linear model, constant voltage drop. Loadline, small signal models. Small signal analysis concept. Example circuits (Halfwave rectifier, zener diode voltage reference).
