\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\tSustainability and sustainable development have become the central theme for the contemporary engineering profession. The objective of this module is to introduce the senior year students in ChBE to the concepts of sustainability and sustainable development, their engineering and social relevance, and the progress that has taken place in developing scientific methodologies to minimize environmental footprint of chemical processes and products. Inseparable from these concepts and methodologies are the principles of green chemistry, clean energy and energy sustainability, product stewardship and product design, which are also introduced and enumerated with relevant case studies.
