\r\n\tDevelop an appreciation and understanding of freshwater biology; and the importance of freshwater—biologically, economically and in terms of human well-being.

\r\n\tSPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
\r\n\tBy the end of this course, you should be able to:
\r\n\ta) Recognise and explain the scope and relevance of freshwater biology
\r\n\tb) Identify, compare and contrast the structure and function of freshwater habitats
\r\n\r\n\tc) Identify and discuss the diversity and ecological roles of major groups of freshwater organisms, and be aware of techniques for sampling them
\r\n\td) Appreciate and discuss various ecological processes of topical and/or local interest
\r\n\r\n\te) Appreciate and discuss key issues in aquatic conservation of topical and/or local interest
\r\n\r\n\tf) Synthesise information to analyse and understand the role of science in informing aquatic conservation policy and management
