{"ModuleCode":"BN5203","ModuleTitle":"Advanced Tissue Engineering","Department":"Biomedical Engineering","ModuleDescription":"We will investigate various tissue engineering approaches for repair and regeneration of tissue structures and functions. In vivo approaches such as drugs, genes, and cell delivery to stimulate and regulate the biological repair and regeneration mechanisms, and in vitro approaches such as the construction of biodegradable scaffolds to build tissues outside bodies before implantation into patients, will be analyzed. A few model systems such as liver, heart, nerves, blood vessels, skin, cartilage and bones will be studied. Original literatures will be critically reviewed, presented, and mini-proposals constructed by students in place of CA.","ModuleCredit":"4","Workload":"3-1-0-2-4","ExamDuration":"P2H","ExamVenue":"E3-06-01/02","AcadYear":"2014/2015","History":[{"Semester":2,"ExamDate":"2015-04-30T17:00+0800","Timetable":[{"ClassNo":"1","LessonType":"Lecture","WeekText":"Every Week","DayText":"Wednesday","StartTime":"1400","EndTime":"1600","Venue":"E4-04-07"},{"ClassNo":"1","LessonType":"Lecture","WeekText":"Every Week","DayText":"Thursday","StartTime":"1000","EndTime":"1200","Venue":"E4-04-07"}],"IVLE":[{"Announcements":null,"Forums":[],"Workbins":[],"Webcasts":[],"Gradebooks":[],"Polls":[],"Multimedia":[],"LessonPlan":[],"ID":"13cd73cc-8d57-4475-8c4a-77e89e0d1679","CourseLevel":"1","CourseCode":"BN5203","CourseName":"ADVANCED TISSUE ENGINEERING","CourseDepartment":"","CourseSemester":"Semester 2","CourseAcadYear":"2014/2015","CourseOpenDate":"/Date(1420387200000+0800)/","CourseOpenDate_js":"2015-01-05T00:00:00","CourseCloseDate":"/Date(1431187140000+0800)/","CourseCloseDate_js":"2015-05-09T23:59:00","CourseMC":"0","isActive":"N","Permission":"S","Creator":{"UserID":null,"Name":"Raghunath, Michael","Email":null,"Title":null,"UserGuid":"fbd8b314-6fff-49d9-a976-21d2b4bdfb61","AccountType":null},"hasGradebookItems":false,"hasTimetableItems":true,"hasGroupsItems":false,"hasClassGroupsForSignUp":false,"hasGuestRosterItems":false,"hasClassRosterItems":true,"hasWeblinkItems":false,"hasLecturerItems":true,"hasDescriptionItems":true,"hasReadingItems":true,"hasAnnouncementItems":false,"hasProjectGroupItems":false,"hasProjectGroupsForSignUp":false,"hasConsultationItems":false,"hasConsultationSlotsForSignUp":false,"hasLessonPlanItems":false,"Badge":0,"BadgeAnnouncement":0,"WebLinks":[],"Lecturers":[{"ID":"7dec45cf-4516-42f4-beec-b90d82af401a","User":{"UserID":null,"Name":"Raghunath, Michael","Email":null,"Title":null,"UserGuid":"fbd8b314-6fff-49d9-a976-21d2b4bdfb61","AccountType":null},"Role":"Coordinator ","Order":1,"ConsultHrs":null},{"ID":"ff4ad591-a370-4240-a60a-0d702c9dbfc0","User":{"UserID":null,"Name":"Mrinal Kanti Musib","Email":null,"Title":null,"UserGuid":"ff39961f-f806-43e9-a332-4bfd9eaf3d73","AccountType":null},"Role":"Co-Lecturer ","Order":2,"ConsultHrs":null}],"Descriptions":[{"ID":"1e5f053b-8835-4692-be49-41f07234cfff","Title":"Learning Outcomes","Description":"AIMS: to be able to critically assess current tissue engineering approaches with regards to viability, commercial usefulness and meeting clinically unmet needs. And to understand how to assess the specific subtasks when approaching a tissue engineering project.
\n
\nObjectives: to analyse whether Tissue Engineering a viable approach in Regenerative Medicine ? What about the hype and the reality of Tissue Engineering. We will have a critical look at this field and identify bottlenecks and opportunities also with regards to markets.
